Description:
This is a satirical medal from the 1896 political campaign between William Jennings Bryan and William McKinley. Throughout the campaign, the political opponents debated about the currency issue within the United States. McKinley supported the gold currency and Bryan supported free silver. This medal satirizes Bryan's stance on silver. On the front of the coin says "Bryan Money" and on the reverse side it says "One Dime" within a wreath with "Free Silver" wrapping around the upper half of the coin and the date 1896 below that. The medallion is supposed to represent what Bryan money would look like if Bryan and free silver won the election.
