Description:
This is a quadricentennial medal for the Reformation. It was issued in 1917. On the obverse side it is the image of Martin Luther nailing the 95 theses on the door of a church. Text "Luther Posting the 95 Theses" are on both sides. On the reverse side is the quote "Here I Stand. I Cannot Do Otherwise. God Help Me." in the middle of the medal. This quote comes from the Diet of Worms when Luther was supposed to recant his writings and teachings. He supposedly said "Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise. God help me." Around the top is it says "Quadricentennial of the Reformation" and has the dates 1517 and 1917. In the center bottom, there is a cross within a heart surrounded by rays shooting out of it.
