On the bottom of the base is AW 457.S15 in black ink, with a red diagonal line through it.
Also on the bottom of the base is Ind 457. with the rest of it being too faint to make out.

Miss Madeline Harding donated the object to the Boston Children's Museum in 1947. The Boston Children's Museum gifted the object to the Luther College Ethnographic Collection in 2016.
Part of a collection of 20 figurines from Calcutta, India that were sent to the donor's father, who was in the Jute business.
